Dear Forum patrons

We, at oue company , has to design a cross country ash slurry pipelime for disposal of ash to pond area. The route is through very difficult terrain. May I kindly have reference of company or individual experts dealing with such project who may be retained for assissting in designing such project.

you should look at <www.pneutrans.net> to see what a capsule pipeline can do for you project.

to see an existing capsule pipeline moving limestone from a quarry to a cement mil please look at <www.capsu.org>

this is the capsule pipeline history site and it will have a link to the capsule pipeline in japan. they replaced a railroad with an air powered capsule pipeline to move limestone ore.

Dear Mr. Roshani,

I have following facilities at Fluid Mechanics Laboratory at IIT Delhi:

I. Bench Scale Laboratory Tests for determining following properties of particles and slurry (20 Kg dry particle sample is required):

  1. Specific gravity of solids
  2. Specific gravity of slurry at different concentrations
  3. pH value of slurry at different concentrations
  4. Particle size distribution (Wet Sieving on BS 200 mesh)
  5. Hydrometer analysis of BS -200 particles
  6. Settling characteristics of slurry
  7. Unhindered settling velocities of individual size fractions
  8. Angle of repose for slurry
  9. Rheological properties of slurry using Weissenberg Rheometer
  10. Chemical composition
  11. Erosion wear using pot tester

II. CFD-based FLUENT software and my own software for determining following design parameters of slurry pipeline:

  1. Pressure drop
  2. Concentration profile
  3. Critical deposition velocity
  4. Water hammer pressure
  5. Erosion wear

Based on laboratory and computational analyses, I can propose the following for slurry pipeline system:

A. Selection of slurry pump (centrifugal or positive-displacement)

B. Selection of pipe material (HDPE, Steel or Rubber-lined)

C. Optimum Pipeline Design for Settling and non-Settling Slurries

D. Optimum Pipeline design for High Density Paste and Tailings Systems

Sincerely,

D.R. Kaushal
