Hello,

As you have said, you have joined the company which does the business in rice plant designing and may be also supplying. Therefore, this company must have know-how for concerned design work, etc. of such plant, befitting to their business need. You being mechanical engineer, can apply your engineering know-how to understand and enhance the specific knowledge for the concerned work / plant. This response is nearly same as the information given by the earlier participant.

In general, mechanical engineers graduation knowledge is comprehensive (extensive) enough to take care of any ‘Machinery’, with appropriate efforts and self learning. The effort includes talk / discussions with creator and operator of machinery, application of analytical engineering to the concerned practice, etc.

Ishwar's 2nd paragraph is also especially true.

Your company have recruited you, something they would not have done if they didn't know you could be an asset.

One trick is to find those 5 people who make the the job tick. Five, or maybe 6. I've worked in firms with staffs of many thousands & found the ones who knew what was happening. Those golden ones are most helpful because of several factors. They know the job upside down, back to front & inside out. They have nothing to hide & are mostly concerned with their colleagues' & companies well-being. If you ask intelligent straightforward questions they will make you one of their own. They know that the companies future depends on lads like you.
