Oil Consumption Vs Recovery

Dear Experts,

Minimizing oil consumption and maximizing oil recovery is an important commitment for engineers towards the welfare of environment.

In general, we use oil at three places :

1. Splash lubrication ( Example : in many conveyor gearboxes.)

2. Hydraulic system only when command is given. ( Example : Reclaimer or stacker luffing system. ).

3. Continuous hydraulic system as long as equipment is running. ( Example : Hydraulic motors in reclaimer boom conveyors ).

Hence, the consumption and the recovery may be based on different applications.

Consumption may be defined based on the percentage of oil quantity filled in each system and recovery is in percentage of consumption.

I understand these values depend on the number of working hours and the environment conditions.

Still, I have been searching for the above percetange values, but not getting the answers so far.

Kindly share your opinion on the above values or what are the guide lines you are following at your factory.

Thanks & lots of regards,

Wastage Of Oil

There are factories which use oil for the production of the machines and later on they just discharge the used oil into the sea. That is not only illegal according to environmental care science but also idiotic because the used oil can also be refined and reused multiple times for multiple purpose.

It is the most important factor to have a careful look on consumption and recovery but unfortunately now a days no one is taking it as serious as it should be taken.
