How to prolong the working life of heat resistant conveyor belt

Heat resistant conveyor belt consist of muti-ply fabric such as EP layer and Nylon layer with heat resistant rubber conveyor on top cover , bottom cover and skim rubber between layer after vulcanization processing, the heat resistant rubber cover produce porous carbonized stratum as conveyor belt carrying high temperature material, this carbonized stratum has burning resistant function, and prevent high temperature from transferring further into belt center body, so that can protect the internal strength of the heat resistant conveyor belt. Furthermore, the carbonized stratum generates irregular tiny crack during the conveyor belt’s running, which can have a cooling effect for the conveyor belt itself.heat resistant conveyor belt is suitable for carrying bulk material under 175 in aggregate,mining,recycling,coal-fired power plant and cement plant.

The working life of heat resistant conveyor belt is shorter than normal conveyor belt because of its special usage, the carried heat material will harm the surface of conveyor belt after long time running, so how to prolong the working life of heat resistant conveyor belt in some way?

1. The cooling system must be set up with conveyor line, when the conveyor belt run back from head, the cooling system have to make the conveyor belt’s temperature cooling down as soon as possible, normally use powerful fan, or with cold water spray on the surface of belt especially in steel plant.

2. The carried heat material has to be moved out immediately if conveyor belt stop to running suddenly.

3.The surface temperature of conveyor belt need to be supervised and tested regularly in case temperature increasing unnecessarily.

4. Marking sure the carried heat material distributed evenly, not heap up massively.

5. Avoiding any oil material spray on surface of heat resistant conveyor belt, that will damage the conveyor belt very seriously.

6.The connection way of conveyor belt should select heat resistant glue.

To 2. "The carried heat material has to be moved out immediately if conveyor belt stop to running suddenly"

The requirement of method 2 has been examined previously. Suggestions that a dumping area where hot material can be collected and spread are quite impractical in terms of plant layout and safety. If a cooling system fails and the belt subsequently ruptures there is the situation that the hot burden is dumped on the floor around the conveyor. How this hot burden can be transported 'immediately' was never specified previously, nor has it been specified here!

Disasters waiting to happen are still a common feature of bulk handling/heavy engineering design and specification. If there is concern that equipment is going to fail then that particular equipment is unsuitable and should be replaced by something more reliable and safer. Consider that if equipment which can evacuate hot material exists then quite definitely this back up equipment should be used in the first place. This would save the expense of the unreliable conveyor and the suspect cooling system.

Previous contributions to this argument about handling hot stuff have said "Of course somebody is going to get killed..." end of quote. Not on my watch!

Basically what is suggested in this topic is that you can operate a truck with under inflated tyres and then when the tyres catch fire, you must drive them through a nearby water trough. Give over. Rubber and heat are not good bedfellows.

In the old days, when coal fired power plants were fashionable, it was deemed prudent to mention the possibility of conveying coal which was subject to spontaneous combustion. However, to standardise on belt stock holdings, fire resistant belt was rarely specified and that is how the farcical notion of accepting the fire risk and the associated attempts to gather and spread the hot burden came into existence. I had hoped that a newer generation had taken such shortcomings to task.

It is my real pleasure to have expert like you to this thread, yes, in our country and working area, it seems no other better method but moving hot material off from conveyor belt, because most of cement manufacture are lack of basic cooling system and other safety equipment, so what we can do it find good quality heat resistant belt which could run in certain period time without any problem, and beg to conveyor system not stop in any way, but if this situation real happened, the first thing we consider is to move carried material off as soon as possible, in this way we can protect conveyor belt in maximum extent, otherwise the belt will be damaged or got air bubbles in short time, and it will be disaster to replace the belt which will lead to whole producing line stop
