Sir,

Thanks for your reply

Can you please explain in brief the following queries:

1. differences between wagon tippler hopper & track hopper in brief & why track hopper is costlier than wagon tippler hopper,& which one should be given the first preference while designing the coal handling plant

2. Arrangement of mobile travelling tripper over the coal bunkers.

3. Arrangement of fixed tripper in the transfer points.

4. which type of wagon tippler is better ( rotatry tippler or tippler with side arm charger)&why.

5. what are chutes in coal handling plant & its type.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Coal Handling

Greetings and salutations Saveen,

1. a wagon tippler/ rotary car dumper can dump both a bottom dump coal car and a bathtub gondola car easily.

a. you can not use a bottom dump trestle to dump a bathtub gondoal car as there are no doors in the well of the railcar.

A bottom dump trestle (track hopper) is less costly than a tippler as you do not need a huge concrete or brick walled pit with a huge bin and manway access and the need for a pair of apron feeders to deliver the dumped coal to a central take away belt stacker.

A plow conveyor under the track hopper section is all that is needed to move the coal from a to b with a carhoe.

A traveling tripper is not needed:

The main delivery belt from the stock yard feeds coal to a number of sections of belt that are positioned at right angles to the delivery belt and fed with a common chute to all belts at once.

When a bin calls fo coal the belt feeding that bin will start and the main belt will start after that delivering coal to the bin until the bin high limit switches turn it off. all the bins and belts work like that the same way.

You only have one short belt feeding every bin so a fixed tripper is not required due to the configuration of the chutes to each belt from the main belt.

Bottom dump rail cars have been in use for a long time-100 years or more and bathtub gondolas are also in use so it is a matter of how you want to set up your unloading system which will determine the type of car needed.
