Caking Tests

Hallo everyone,

I am starting to get in touch with powder properties, storage etc.

To be able to outline the performance of the powder, a caking test is needed. What kind of information do I need to perform a caking test?

If I let a company do it for me, what do I need to tell them, so i can achieve the best results? How can I evaluate the results afterwards?

I am thanking you in advance.

For simple Caking test you just need a humidity cabinet and an analytical balance. The tests are done at various temp/ humidity conditions and the weight gained / lossed by material is calculated / caking properties are also physically observed. Conditions at which there is minimum change is normally the best storage condition.

For complex test to simulate day and night cycle, load conditions etc. special apparatus have been developed by the academics and there are number of publications on them also which will be a useful point to start.
