Explosion Protection - More Than One Step

Look at

to see that you need

preventive and control measures

inerting

(supresion)

venting

and also valves to avoid the explosion to "travell" through the ducts

Re-Usable Self-Reclosing Explosion Vents

Posted on 5. Dec. 2009 - 02:47

Hello,

until now the most suggested the "only once use" explosion vents

but

there are the re-usable self-reclosing explosion vents

made by THORWETSEN VENT

also called explosion relieve doors

www.thorwesten.com

The very advantage of Thorwesten vents is self-reclosing:

when an explosion happens

this vents opens and close again immediately avoiding

new fresh air, i.e. oxygen, to come into the silo, dust collector or what ever

and so secundary explosions should not happen

The explosion rupture panels and discs let an open fresh-air-window after an explosion

That does not mean that they are not good to use

it is a matter of probability and costs (to buy rupture or self-reclosing vents, cost of lost of production-time in case of an explosion, ..., repair-costs after an fire in your vessel, ...)

The other advantage of Thorwesten vents is re-usable:

You do not loose the venting door after an explosion

and in the most cases you start production again after a short time

and also you do not need an replacement in your factory.

In case of rupture panels and discs you have to have a replacement ready considering the delivery time of new one

Do not forget the explosion PREVENTION:

+ CO and O2 analysis - robecco - www.robecco.de - added to

+ inertizing - Yara

SPRAY DRYING

In case you consider to protect a drying process, like milk powder production, you should consider

+ in-door explosion vent (like Brilex and Rembe offers)

be care-full: the flame can not get trough the flame-filter but the very hot gases does

+ explosion suppression

a sensor detects an incipient explosion and extinguish it in milisecond befor dangerous pressures in the vessel are reached

Get in touch with www.incom-ag.ch for both solutions

but much better ...

write me .... in our "technology pool" we represent complementary explosion PREVENTION and also explosion CONTROL experts

info@explosioncontrolada.com

www.explosioncontrolada.com

It does not matter were your factory is located, I contact you to the best technology choice

And last ...

do not confuse Inertization with Suppression

Inertization prevents an explosion and acts before an explosion starts

Suppression starts after an explosion already are beginning

Keep looking and learning :-)

diego

Self-Reclosing Re-Usable Explosion Vents

Posted on 5. Dec. 2009 - 03:34

I see my post was lost, so again ...

Self-reclosing re-usable explosion vents

www.thorwesten.com

1) the very advantage of self-reclosing explosion explosion vent doors

is

that the doors close fast (miliseconds) after an explosion was relieved

and avoids that fresh air with oxygen comes into the vessel you are protecting (silo, dust collector, ..., dust tight chain conveyor, ...)

and so secondary explosions and fires inside should not happen

Rupture discs and panels burst and let an open fresh-air-window on your vessel

Fire will have enough oxygen to keep alive and other explosion could happen

But the rupture devices are not bad

It is a matter of probability, acquisition costs, production-stop-costs, repair-costs after an fire, ..., and the cost of having spare-parts of rupture devices on you factory depending on the delivery times

2) the advantage of re-usable is that you

do not need an replacement-door in your factory

can re-start your process after an short time

Please consider also explosion PREVENTION

+ analysis of CO and O2 in vessels, ducts, mills, dust collector - robecco GAS - www.robecco.de

added to

+ inertization with CO2 or N2 - Yara

The analysis measure the gases and also analyses the changes of the gas concentrations and can prevent that the concentration reaches the security limits

That is an important difference to switches which alarm only when the limit was already reached; too late because the in case of alarm you are already in danger !! With the gas analysis you can avois to come into the dangerous concentration zone

Inertization acts to prevent to reach the danger limit injecting inert gas into your installation; this is an important PREVENTION of explosions

Of course, to use the gas only in case you need it, you habe analyse the CO/O2 concentrations first

We are Representatives of complementary technologies for explosion protection, prevention and control:

prevention: robecco, Yara

control: Thorwesten, ...

We have colleges in Indonesia and we will contact you immediately with the best technology choice and the next contact to your factoy
