Re: Stacking, Blending & Reclaiming

There is very little you can do to reduce , let alone eliminate, that kind of dust on that kind of plant. Tertiary crushers for that product are generally high speed rotating machines which generate airborn fines as a matter of principle. The dust comes from the machine directly & from adjacent stockpiles disturbed by the machine air currents.

Covering the screens with tarpaulin does not help because the dust escapes through the screen deck apertures. As it would.

Your scenario is quite typical of quarry operations. Buy the cheapest gear around & then whinge when it doesn't perform.

Think about it, your plant intended to make powder from rock & then feigns dust generation as an unforseen event.

Why feed rock into bins, where there will be less dust, & then dump powder on the deck?

Quite simply, if you are serious about your workers continued respiration, scrap that rubbish & invest in covered belts, enclosed screens & feeders along with sealed hoods for the crushers.

I've seen marginally worse.

Dear Mr. Jesus,

You have not mentioned name of material creating the dust. There are three standard methods to reduce the dust emission from equipment to external environment :

1) First, try to minimise the dust emission from equipment to environment by reducing the clearance at material entry point and material exit point, from specific equipment wherever feasible.

2) Use dust extraction or dust collection system. This system creates slight negative pressure in dust generating zone and sucks the dust-laden air. The dust so collected can be re-utilised. The negative pressure results into outlet air going into the dusty zone rather than dusty air coming out of the dusty zone.

3) Dust suppression system. In this case very fine spray of water or water mixed with chemical is sprayed on the dust-creating zone. This is also utilised to spray water on stockpiles to reduce dust creating by winds.

You can refer to the manufacturers of the above systems, who can suggest the appropriate measures. All the above equipment are extensively used, across the world.

Dust Suppresion

Posted on 9. Dec. 2006 - 06:42

dear mexicano.

have you tried water.

long time ago we had a very similar problem in our ore and coal stacks .

the ore stacks were spayed with sprinclers, the same used in gardens the finer the drop the better.

some people came to sell us ultrasonic devices , we install them , they self destroyed.

try the mist generators used as coolers in some gardens , they might work better and you might use less water .

also tri hich pressure karcher pumps to create this mist , if they work , then go industial.

Jess,

suerte

let me go back to english

cascade chutes.

there are severall very smat designs .

In mexico they end up demolished by the payloaders.

But they work.

If you can visit HYLSA puebla you might see some in action .

Ask what are they doing.

i found that is better to beep a pile to slide material in material .

But I cannot see if your trippers (belts) can move?

can you lower you belts to start a pile reducing the drop?

a frame and a cuple of cables can do the trick. no need to hurry.

Or a concrete slide .

Dear Mr. Mexicano,

If the dust pollution to the environment is by wind, then this can be minimized by following means :

1) Enclosed stockpile i.e. shade over the stockpile. This would require the investment to create a shade.

2) The installation of dust suppression system. In this case, water-spraying nozzles are spaced at some 25 to 30 m interval depending upon the stockpile width etc. These dust suppression nozzles are connected to the water pipe running around the edge / edges of the stockpile. The continuously running pump keeps the water pressurised in the pipe. Each nozzle is equipped with a solenoid valve and timer etc. to start the spraying of water for certain duration. Then automatically next nozzle starts spraying. This spraying of water continues to occur in cyclic pattern automatically all the time, once the system is switched on. Operator decides the use of this system depending upon the wind conditions and the needs. The water spraying is in a controlled manner wherein it keeps the stockpile surface moist. It does not add water into complete stockpile.

Such system is extensively used in all important power stations in India for minimizing the coal dust pollution by wind to the environment. The system is very useful in dry weather localities. Spraying of water is in fine jet form, by automatically swiveling nozzle.

To me it seems moistening limestone surface, would not be objectionable from material characteristic point of view, because it is a naturally occurring material and does not alter characteristics in objectionable manner (because limestone would be already moist / wet in the monsoon season).

Refer the manufacturers of such systems for more details.

Ishwar G Mulani.

Dear Jesus,

As far as Heap is concern. I had come accross the Austria Company they actually demonstrated at our Coal Handling plant(India), some chemical is mixed with water in some ration for different material (actually they study at site) and sprayed on to the heap and the surface of the material becomes cake resulting no dust fly because of wind.

Secondly u dont require any fixed sprinklers, pump house for spraying that chemical+water. Actually they developer portable Kit can be mounted on vehicle of ur make so that spraying can be done by manually with one nozzle provided.

In India Tejo Engineering people have collobration with Austria Company.

Pl go to google and search for more information and revert back for any information.
