Dear Lyn

Please clear my confusion. Detergent manufacturer using raw material STPP (Sodium Tri Poly Phosphate) want to switch to using Zeolite-A.

Cost of STPP in the market is 630 USD

Cost of Zeolite A in the market is 1467 USD

I know Zeolite is environmental friendly and STPP is hazardous.

But the cost difference, is it viable?

What are the raw materials to produce Zeolite-A?

Appreciate your reply

I do not have sufficient information to advise on the commercial viability of using Zeolite instead of STPP. The two points that occur to me are: -

- Is the change dictated by factors that offer no alternative, in which case the economics is not the deciding factor.

- On economic grounds, there could still be a case for the more expensive material if less of it were required or it showed other benefits that saved more than the difference.

I am sorry that I cannot be more helpful but suggest that you discuss the matter with the relevant parties to establish the main reason for wanting to make the change.

probably I know something about zeolite A, the raw material for it is sodium silicate and sodium aluminate, and the cost is similar, the price of STPP is high than zeolite's, but formulation with zeolite 4A you need some addtives
