Feeding arrangement of Jaw Crusher

Can we directly feed the Jaw crusher from a conveyor (from 5 m height). Is it possible to feed a Jaw Crusher from 5m height via a Ladder chute / Stone box Chute.

What should be the ideal feed height of a Jaw Crusher?

Is it really required to feed the jaw crusher from a vibrating feeder / belt feeder ?

First,

You need to be more forthcoming with information.

Your question is too general for a simple one size fits all answer.

Breaking rock is not simple. The type of ore or fuel to be broken is what

will sink or swim and the secondary processing being "Tertiary Crushing And Sizing

also must be discussed.

Rather than ask us whether it will work you need to be more open about

what you are mining and wish to size to a broken size for further crushing

and screening in a secondary sizing circuit.

Jaw crushers are "load dependent" in order to operate properly.

They can and will jam and will require the unbroken material to

be passed through and disposed of or broken to smaller size with

what ever one has at their disposal.

A Belt Feeder Breaker such as the Roscoe or Joy feeder breakers

are much more suitable to mass dumping and breaking to a uniform

size like minus six inch "Run Of Mine" ores or less.

What your describing is not really a very good idea as the

"Run Of Mine" feed stock is strictly dependent on the broken size

of the material when the material is blasted or ripped out with a

tracked shovel or drag line.

In addition to Leon's comments it is also best to screen out fines (product not needed to be crushed) prior to going to the crusher. If you don't you will need to over size your crusher to allow for the extra feed.

So then you would use a vibrating screen to feed your crusher. Loading a crusher as you are describing is not recommended as it may create an overload condition in the crusher. Imagine trying to start that crusher with the load from the chute over top of it right on the crusher rotor. Well it just isn't going to start, period.

Feeding Arrangement Of Jaw Crusher

Dear Sirs ,

Our application is in-plant appliaction rather than ROM.

We have planned to use a Jaw crusher to crush the LD Slag / BOF Slag inside our plant .

This Jaw crusher is in a closed loop system.

The screen over size (size is approx 300 mm ) is fed to this Jaw Crusher through a Belt conveyor. The output is 60 mm.

Actually we also have a ILMS above this Conveyor so to accommodate the same the conveyor discharge is at 8.2 m level.

The crusher support level is at 3.2 m level. Crusher feed is at 4.2 m approx.

My question is Is it possible to feed a Jaw Crusher from 4 - 4.5 m height via a Ladder chute / Stone box Chute.

Our vendor is raising concern about this arrangement . So i need expert advice.

please help.

Jaw Crusher Issues

Follow your vendors excellent advice.They

are correct in telling you it will not work.

As Gary also explained to you very well

the crusher will not work if it is jammed

with material. Adding further to that the

jaw crusher would not release the

jambed material that is piled on by

the conveyor requiring the maintenance staff

to enter into the crusher to clear the material

from the throat of the jaw crusher.

SO follow your vendors excellent and correct

advice and do not do this.

Feeding Arrangement Of Jaw Crusher

Dear Sir ,

The same Overload situation can also arrive if the Belt Feeder/Vibrating feeder fed the Jaw Crusher. Though the height of the chute is less but still If the Jaw Crusher abruptly stops than their shall be some uncrusherd material in the Jaw Crusher. Before Jaw Crusher starting the that material need to be removed. To avoid Jammed situation We have added one diverter gate in the Jaw Crusher feeding chute. If the Jaw Crusher stopped abruptly that diverter gate diverts the martial. Hence material will not Jammed up the crusher. Of course few material will definite needed to be removed from the Crusher in this scenario.
