Ball Mill Trommel Oversize

We have used wet ball mill to produce 300microne fine iron ore from about 500t/h crushed -25mm.

However we have about 1 ton/houre oversize discharge from trommel.

Is there any way we can send back this material to the ball mill?

or

Is there any small mill which can grind this 1ton/houre material?

what is your idea about the usage of HPGR with the capacity of one tone per hour?

what is your estimation for the size of this HPGR?

The trommel discharge (Oversize) is likely to contain chips of broken grinding media. You need to handle the trommel discharge and process it for removal of these. Once this is done, you can either return the oversize to ball mill.

Small Size Ball Mill

You are right, HPGR can not be used in this point because of steel balls.

However maybe small size ball mill may be appropriate.

Have you ever seen small ball mill with this low capacity?

Mohandes,

There are small continous ball mills with throughputs as low as 300 kg/h and batch ball mills with lower capacities.

Let me know if you are still interested in this thread so I may advise you.

Hello Mohandes

How much is 1 tph of extra hard iron ore worth to you? Is it the disposal cost that is causing you problems? ROR on crushing 1 tph of iron ore must be capital cost prohibitive unless you can find a very very cheap way to do it. It is definitely not with a HPGR.

I am not an expert on ball mills but if you have additional capacity on your ball mill why not return them to the inlet and do a flush of oversize once a day to prevent any build up of superhard iron ore?

No, the material is not worthy, only it takes space and making trouble for operation.

I am agree with Liam that transporting back the material to the ball mill feed can be a solution.

However because of axial and vertical distance between ball mill outlet and inlet, the material handling can be more sophisticated than doing something directly at the outlet and make slurry there to feed to line.
