Another field startup commissioning story

This was a customer complaint on a new screen installation.

PROBLEM: carryover of fines at 6x6 mesh T304 stainless steel sidetension wirecloth. Dillon screen 4x10 1 deck.

Circles throw, 22.5 deg angle.

Noted on walkup to screen, a new solid rubber piece had been added by customer to underside edge of the discharge lip.

Upon discussion, it was divulged the piece was added along the full width to stop OVERSIZE from finding its way down to the undersize material chute by means of the SPACE or opening caused by improper fitting of the CUSTOMER installed takeaway stationary chutework.

They were getting complaints from their own manufacturing intercompany customers.

THE idea was great and accomplished stopping of overs getting into the fines portion. BUT, at the same time, the customer broke a cardinal rule of vibrating screens which is to maintain a 2" clearance all around the vibrating body. These machines are free floating on springs and must FLOAT FREELY not in restriction or interference fit.

FIX: We had customer REMOVE solid rubber bar and attach a lightweight rubber overlay on the discharge lip to GO OVER the gap and lay over the stationary discharge chutework by about 3 inches. PROBLEM fixed, unit runs unobstructed now while running and on shutdown.

STROKE check actually identified this area also as an after check by showing equal circles on 3 corners and a distorted circle at this problem corner.
