How hot is hot?

Please give a temperature.

Depends on chute design. Ceramics and glass have been used with good performance.

More details need to be known about the installation.

I've been told about 600 degrees C.

Then it's probably a good idea NOT to use a quenched and tempered alloy steel abrasion resistant plate.

Dear Designer,

Thank you for a confusing reply. Why would you not a quenched and tempered alloy steel liner.

Well to anyone with even basic engineering training it's self evident.

At 600 deg C, and over a protracted period of time, quenched and tempered steels will 'temper out' and loose all the strength and hardness achieved during the manufacturing process where they were first quenched and tempered!

Ceramics and glass are OK, but, do not use a rubber backing. Use epoxy.

Try using a tool steel

Linings For Temperatures Of 600 C.

Posted on 27. Oct. 2009 - 01:38

Obviously as was stated you cannot use a steel that is Q&T.

You can use ceramics of both Alumina and Zirconia quality but NOT with epoxy resin as this will live only upto 300 C.

Basalt will only see 350 C.

iF YOU CAN EMAIL TO ME YOUR DETAILS WE CAN HELP YOU WITH YOUR SPECIFICATION OR MAYBE A QUOTATION.
