Goodyear Stretch-A-Trough conveyor

Posted in: , on 7. Apr. 2006 - 00:00

We installed a Goodyear Stretch -a- Trough conveyor about 10 years ago. Tension on the belt pulled the 24 inch belt into a trough 12 inches wide with the aide of 90 degree troughing rollers. Our belt is worn out and we are looking for a replacement.

Any ideas about something that can replace this belt without having to replace the entire conveyor frame?

We have had not luck finding the original item.

90 Degree Troughing

Thank you for the confirmation. I have about come to the conclusion that a "pipe" belt will in fact work in a "U" shape troughing set up. Is there anyone who has actually used a "pipe" belt or "tube" belt to just make a 90 degre troughing set up?

Dear Mr. walters,

Conventional belt can negotiate 90 degree trough. It does require some engineering to validate the application, but it has been done. The 24 in belt rotated into a 12 inch wide trough will require a very compliant belt. I question you need for 90 degrees.

Share with us the remaining needed details of: capacity, speed, rock lump max size,, and other particulars. Also, the duty rating is helpful.

90 Degree Trough

We need the 90 degree trough because of room constraints. We are running the belt along a tunnel that has full size train rail going through for loading coal cars. We are runnning 2 inch X 0 inch sub-bituminous coal at about 1600 lbs per cubic yard. Belt is running about 200 tons per hour to fill a 150 ton bin-- about 60,000 tons per year. THis is in Alaska- the belt sometimes sees 4 or 5 weeks of below -30F. During that time we keep it continually running. The belt is only slightly over 100 feet long- runs level for 70 feet them turns left 7 degrees and climbs 3% to dump onto another belt.
