Posted in: , on 2. Aug. 2012 - 10:27

Hi All ,

We have been commissioned by an operation in South Africa to Develop / Design / Purchase a Transportation device to move material from under a return idler / plough back onto the Belt .

1. Electrically Operated.

2. Semi Mobile.

3. Intrinsically Safe ( Fiery Mine Usage )

If any one has seen , supplies a product or could suggest a solutions which would achieve these goals I would be very interested to hear about it.

Thanks a million ,

So would at least 100% of persons involved in belt conveying and beyond. Purchasing seems most improbale and that leaves design & development which seems hardly possible in your situation. Your client might accept that lashing can be dangerous, that the open grille flooring is passing material and the carryback is excessive. That does not justify his riciculous commission to boldly go where .....

Semi Mobile says it all.

What your punter needs to do is read Martin Foundations andput it into practice: like he should have done in the first place.

Please- help us to help us help you with your clients issues.

This is not problem for you it is an opportunity to solve the spillage problem you have at this facility.

I would be more worried about the sagging fllor grates breaking through their support structure as it appears to be

almost non existant along this surface plants conveyor flight.

The only thing that will help you with a semi solid like this (assuming it is gold/metal slimes as it appears to be)

is a positive displacement vacuum system that is available for gassy mine duty service to create the proper

pressure gradients needed with solid and semi rigid flexible piping for mine duty service.

There are more than a handfull of mine duty vacuum manufacturers selling this machinery world wide.

you need to do your homework!!

You have to discuss with the client the options available with a permanently installed system which would prevent

the need to drag hoses and vacuum tools all over the stationary physical plant.

If they are unwilling to examine a plant wide vacuum system capable of suctioning solids and semi solids and

using pipeline pigs to assure the system is cleaned of buildups after each use of a vacuum system all is lost.

The other issue is curves and elbows in the plant wide vacuum system as linear runs of pipe to a central collection pipe

are preferred - 1. reduce energy costs related to a vacuum system and 2. prevent sediment buildups at elbows as the

elbows are less than 45 degrees in radius curves and 3. reducing plug ups by eliminating 90 degree elbows within the

installation.

Personally I am most familiar in the use the Super Products line of vacuum which are capable of

vacuuming dry and wet material many thousands of feet to a mobile truck carrier.

I have provided three links below for your use:

Not Quite There.

This punter wants to return spillage back onto the belt carrying side.

UGH!!! They must have shovels where he is!!

The only way that will happen is if the system is tied into the belt flghts at

the very last transfer point with a cyclone.
