Steep Angle Fabric Conveyor Belts Joint Length

Posted in: , on 8. Sep. 2014 - 15:07

Dear experts,

I have come to know that the step length of hot vulcanizing joint, as a thumb rule, is the ply rating in millimeter.

That is 1000/4 belt's step length in hot vulcanizing joint should not be less than 1000/4 = 250 mm.

The above may be applicable only for flat conveyors. How are they decided for steep angle conveyor ?

Thanking in advance & Regards,

Height Faluting.

Where does 'may be' enter the frame? A belt is a belt, is a belt: selected on the basis of working tensions. Tensions are determined during the calculation which covers lift height.

Sir, There is a difference between both. The basic step length cannot be same though rating would be same.

Dear Ganesh,

We have been following the rule that the splicing length is the same in case of horizontal belt and inclined belt.

Failure rate of joints in inclined belt is seen to be higher.

Hence Your question is definitely a good one,for experts to comment.

Nowadays people go for cold joints every where in fabric belt and claims to be comparable with spliced joint, but I feel hot spliced joints gives better results.

This point also need a discussion.
