A typical shaft material would be SAE/AISI 1045 (0.45% C Normalized).

To understand method of calculating the center of gravity - you will need to refer a basic applied mechanics textbook. You will have to break the screen up into simple component shapes, calculate the individual center of gravities, and then resolve by the principle of moments. All this is very time consuming, but many good CAD programs will speed things along.

Placement Of Shaft In The Screen

Thank you for your reply,Iam doing the calculations in the same manner.

I have a problem in the placement of the shaft in the screen assembly,is there any options in the placement of the shaft in the screen.Tell me whether any calculations are there to calculate the exact placement.

What type of screen are you working on - circular or linear motion?

What size and how many decks?

Tell me a little more about what exactly is your problem in positioning the shaft
