If I understand you, that the conveyor uses an air plenum to deliver air to the underside of the transport belt and supports it in lieu of idlers.

You must have an understanding of fluid mechanics and its restrictions. CDI developed such methodology for Martin Engineering. You can ask them, but, I believe they, as others will consider it intellectual property. Thus, be prepared to pay for it.

There is/was a book "Elements of Pneumatic Conveying" By Marcos et al which contained extensive advice on designing airslides, airlifts & standpipes. Professor Marcos was at Wits so the book, or similar, should be available from the bookshop in Braamfontein or Adams in Durban, whichever is nearest.

I'm currently searching for detail information on airslides and airlifts because I need to understand this type of conveying technology better.

Firstly we need to upgrade a system utilising this type of technologies for recommissioning at one of our mothballed power stations. We're also in the specification phase of a new six unit coal fired power station. Our choice is between a pressure vessel or airslide based system for removal of fly ash from a precipitator. As we don't have an inhouse knowledge base of airslides, we're not confident in the susccessful specification thereof and thus the decision might default towards a pressure vessel based system.

I thus want to bring myself up to speed with these technologies to enable me to compile a specification and evaluate tenders to maximise the probability to be offered a working system by potential suppliers on an open market.

Henk

There are numerous text books available by authors such as Dr. David Mills, Dr. George Klingzig and many others who discuss the theory and design of fluidization as it applies to Air Gravity Conveyors and Fluid Lifts.

There are many vendors who are capable of supplying the equipment and auxiliary components.

Our firm is exactly in the middle. We provide service to clients such as yourself to take the theory and science, coupled with our decades of practical experience and recommend the most cost effective way for you to move forward.

As anyone in the industry knows, flyash is not always flyash. It varies greatly in physical as well as chemical composition and those differences often make the difference between a successful and not so successful installation.
