Pipes for Pneumatic Conveying

Posted in: , on 4. Jul. 2012 - 15:04

Hello all,

My costumer want to replace all the pipes from their pneumatic system. In Portugal its hard to find all the diameters of these pipes.

I'm thinking about doing a Importation into Portugal, so:

12mt D82,5int.

72mt D89,2int.

30mt D144,4int.

48mt D152,4int.

60mt D65int.

150mt D70int.

Who can help?

Thanks

Best Regards

Hlio Carvalho

Dear Hlio Carvalho,

60mt D65int. = 2.5”

150mt D70int = 2.75”

12mt D82,5int. = 3.25”

72mt D89,2int. = 3.5”

30mt D144,4int. = 5.5”

48mt D152,4int. = 6”

Quite a variety of pipe sizes.

A alternative would be (if the standard inch sizes are not available) to find out which pipe diameters with the closest dimensions are available at the local market and then decide whether the found diameters are right for the pneumatic conveying systems in terms of air velocity and capacity. (with the same compressors of course)

Then all the pipe seats do not fit anymore and have to be adapted or replaced.

Piping For Pneumatic Conveying System

Adding to what my friend Teus has so kindly mentioned

in his post:

If poor transfer rates are the issue; have you at any time

blown a pipeline pig through the customers system to clean it?

If they are insisting the pipe must be replaced

you should consider using Victaulic brand fittings

and smooth bore pipe as it will install quickly and

has many adapters including bell pipe adapters for

transitions with little to no welding required.

www.Victaulic.com

For one example of pipeline pigs, pig balls etc:

www.sunengineering.com

The Sun engineering folks make pipeline pigs and pig balls and they

have a sales and service representative in Italy.

for information about pipeline pigging in general:

www.PPSA-online.com

You could install a Pig Launcher and Pig Reciever using the Victaulic Pipe Adapters

and fittings quickly in your customerfs system and save your customer a lot of

grief and money and in the process have customer for life as dry transfer of

granular materials always creates sedimentation/siltation blockages in pneumatic piping.
