FLSmidth releases new QCX® version

Valby, Denmark, April 26, 2010: FLSmidth has released a new version of its market leading QCX® software for plant-wide quality control and laboratory automation in the cement and mineral industries. This latest version supports the new Microsoft Windows 7 operating system in addition to Windows XP, Vista and 2008. The release of the new QCX version (v7.8) only few months after Microsoft’s launch of Windows 7 confirms FLSmidth’s commitment to be in the forefront of setting new IT standards.

Another significant upgrade of the functionality of QCX v7.8 relates to the QCX/BlendExpert-Pile application module. For several years this module has provided advanced chemical mapping of stockpile build-up based on on-line recording of stock pile feed (tonnage and chemistry) via bulk material analyzers). Until now computerized mapping techniques providing detailed information on stacked layer and ‘to be reclaimed’ layer chemistry have supported ‘classic’ longitudinal and circular blending stores. The rapidly developing cement industries in Russia and the CIS countries typically use very moist raw materials (=chalk, often in excess of 20 % moisture), for which bucket excavator blending stores are typically selected to facilitate material handling. There is therefore a need to also support this type of store, which was rarely supplied for main raw materials. Besides being based on Windows 7, the new software functionality has been developed with the latest Microsoft .NET technology,. Global Product Manager Steen Tokkesdal Pedersen comments: "For obvious reasons our customers expect us to comply with the latest Microsoft technology and platforms. At the same time we of course wish to live up to the high industry demands for robust, reliable and backwards compatible systems. Combining these goals with the professional software development skills and QC & QA competencies of our experienced software developers, we have created a strong development environment behind QCX, which helps to explain the prominent role of this system in today's cement industry. Over the last 5 years more than 250 QCX projects have been delivered to cement producers, and we are currently celebrating the delivery of the 150th fully automated sample preparation project. This number represents a total of 125 QCX/RoboLab systems and 25 QCX/AutoPrep systems.”
