Outotec to deliver concentrator expansion for Yara in Finland

December 11, 2008

Outotec has agreed with Yara, a global supplier of mineral fertilizers, on the expansion of the phosphate concentrator located in Siilinjärvi, Finland as a turnkey delivery. The contract value is approximately EUR 28 million.

Outotec's delivery is part of Yara's expansion to increase the annual phosphate concentrate production in Siilinjärvi from 850,000 tonnes to 1,000,000 tonnes.

Outotec's scope of delivery includes the buildings, process engineering, supply of Floatex® density separators, TankCell® flotation units, conditioners, two thickeners and the related instrumentation, electrification and piping, as well as commissioning and training services. The expanded concentrator is estimated to be operational by mid October 2009.

"This turnkey plant delivery for Siilinjärvi phosphate mine expansion demonstrates Outotec's business growth in Finland and in fertilizer industry globally. It is also an example of utilizing our technologies, originally developed for the metals industry, in other process industries", says Tapani Järvinen, CEO of Outotec.
