For 29 years, HOSCH has been ever present on the German and international bulk material handling market as the expert in economical high-precision belt cleaning. HOSCH develops, manufactures and sells highly efficient scraper systems, known as ”sprung-blade scrapers”. A great number of patents are evidence of the innovative performance of HOSCH.

HOSCH was founded in 1975 and today comprises a world-wide network of numerous daughter companies and distributors. They all subscribe to the company’s philosophy of the best possible conveyor belt cleaning through customer-friendly and technically qualified consultation as well as the necessary service of the scrapers.

The services supplied by HOSCH, however, go far beyond that. HOSCH carries out “efficiency analysis” on the basis of a HOSCH specific measurement procedure, the carry-back meter measurement. In addition, HOSCH arranges service and spare parts concepts upon customer request, offers an EDP-based spare parts control, trains customers in theoretical and practical aspects of conveyor belt cleaning, plans scraper systems for OEMs with the help of CAD software and supplies detailed documentation – even multilingual, if requested.

At this year’s BAUMA 2004 the new HOSCH pre-scraper Type HD 2/3 will be presented together with the already well-established generation of HOSCH sprung-blade scrapers.

HOSCH survey on the economy of belt cleaning systems

At a time when the numbers of conveyor maintenance staff are falling due to increased plant running costs, ever greater demands are being placed on belt cleaning systems to ensure the economic viability of these installations.

HOSCH has developed a practical method to assess the efficiency of scraper systems.

This measuring method essentially consists of installing a single cleaning blade behind the existing scraper system for a limited period of time and collecting the “scraped material” in a container. The testing device itself consists of a HOSCH cleaning module type C fixed on an assembly carrier.

The collected material is weighed and the quantities are then projected over a year with regards to the loading width and the installation operating hours. The results of these calculations are the basis for an economic survey which is carried out on HOSCH’s own programme based on Microsoft Excel.

Using the above method, it is possible to very quickly compare and assess different cleaning systems with regards to their economic efficiency.

The measuring process as well as the analysis of the results is carried out on site in cooperation with the customer.

Increase to the HOSCH product range

HOSCH has increased their existing product range with two new products. To solve miss-tracking of conveyor-belts they have designed a new type of reinforced Tracker Roller as well as a new inside-belt Plough Scraper Type.

Regarding the construction, both devices are designed for heavy duty conveyor applications with belt widths from 1400 mm on.

The special features of the Tracker Roller Station Type RG2 are:

• The external centre bearing block, fitted with high-quality radial and axial roller bearings.

• The heavy-duty system carrier equipped with telescopic end-sections, to fit the conveyor structure regardless of its width.

• The crosshead roller-bar, suitable for various belt widths and fitted with a swing angle limiter.

• The segmented rollers fitted with high grade roller bearings and rubber-lagging, for easy assembly to the crosshead roller-bar.

The modular design of this device makes the robust and heavy construction easy to install. The Tracker Roller Station is basically maintenance-free and allows for the transmission of high steering forces. The tracker roller station is available for belt widths from 1400 up to 2200 mm.

The Plough Scraper Type V-D2 is designed for heavy duty conveyor applications with belt widths from 1400 up to 2400 mm. The tubular framework of the plough construction is designed to prevent the accumulation of essential material quantities. Therefore, this product is particularly suitable for conveyor installations subjected to high dust formation.

The segmented cleaning blocks are bolted onto the assembly carrier for easy replacement. They guide the material –flow out of the track-line. Their upgraded volume gives them a much longer service life. Along with the conventional PU quality, a flame-resistant and anti-static block material is available.

The construction of the scraper originates from the already proven modular construction kit of the HOSCH Sprung Blade Scrapers Type C and offers the well-known advantages for easy and flexible installation.
