Simple Mechanical On-Site Level Indicator

Posted in: , on 17. Dec. 2005 - 14:15

Hello!

I am looking for a simple but already existing level indication system for bulk/powder to give an operator the possibility to see bunker filled or empty on site.

It doesn't have to be a monitoring device resp. sending anz signals. The idea is to have a moving ballast ("swimmer")connected to a flag moving up and down according to the level inside the bunker.

Any existing systems known?

Thank you and best regards,

Timo

Mechanical On Site-Level Indicator

I understand your need for a simple mechanical level indicators on solids, but in our experience of replacing many of these devices (and maufacturing/supplying one of our own in the past)they generally suffer from the some/all of the following problems depending on the material and conditions:

Build up effecting the pulley systems

No reading during filling

Burying/Loss of weights - stuck in outlets in product

Broken Cables stuck in outlets in product

Detection of failure

This is why VEGA offer either a static cable or non contact solution VEGAFLEX has a fixed/gravity weighted cable from top to bottom in a silo or the VEGAPULS 68 is a non contact solids radar mounted in the top. Both are highly reliable and can be supplied with a simple readout at the silo bottom. see links :

go to www.vega.com if you wish to make contact in Germany.

Hello Timo

there will be different partsw that you can use for controll level

1) You only want to get a signal for max and min than you can use 2 Vibrating level indicator or capacitive indicator. Let us know the material and the high of silo.

2) To get a monitoring to see how full your silo will be in %

you can use Microflex indicator. There will be a rope in the silo and a microwave is going up and down the rope and signalice you the level

3) Radar measurement: You will measure the level without rope

4) weighing system for the hole silo

you will see the exact weight in kg in the silo

The level indicator you want to use is expensive and it offen will broke. we don´t recommend your idea.

First position is the cheapest last pos. the expensive Alternative.

You can call to me and we could make you an offer if you are interest.

We Have What You Are Looking For!!! Mechanical On Site Level In…

Dear Timo,

We have the level indicator system that you are looking for. Our level indicators are widely preferred in even very harsh working conditions such as dust and abrasive materials. We have a special protection covering for high working temperatures up to 300 C.

Your operator can have not only silo full and silo empty information in meters and centimeters but also they can have analogue and digital signals. Moreover, there is a possibility to control the feeding mechanisms. All are in one system and the price of that system is really attractive. I hate to act like a sales person because I am experienced in many applications both in cement factories, iron and steel works, refineries, dam construction work silos, quarries, mines, coal fired thermal power plants. Working and highly satisfying systems for the Customers. Do not require maintenance, repair many many years. DO NOT HAVE RISK SUCH AS FALSE SIGNALS DUE TO MATERIAL BUILD UP OVER THE CAPACITY PROPS AND GRAVITY WEIGHTED CABLES.

19 Characteristics to avoid any problems during measurements such as strip protection and stand by position in electricity cuts.

Please contact me if you are interested in YUNEL Level Indication Systems.

More Clear...?

I thought I mentioned that I need something simple. I definitely don't need any electronic/signaling equipment connecting to a control centre and it must not be of high accuracy. I know the problem with mechanical equipment but in this case it is absolutely necessary to avoid electrical equipment and we just need the information that there is a certain amount of material in the hopper or not (as I mentioned by e.g. a s"swimmer" connected to a flag moving upwards with material filled). It is more a request by the enduser to have a control mechanism for the operator (working directly at the system, not sitting in the control room)

Furthermore, we will need a lot of those since we are talking about a high amount of small sized bunkers/hoppers (< 1 t).

If anybody has this kind of installation running and can give me some information about function/experience it would be great.

Anyhow, thank you for offering level sensor equipment which I know quite well and, of course, use for other kinds of installations...

And, by the way, I will check YUNEL Level Indication Systems. I hope, there is a website with further information available...

Dear Timo

We are producing electro mechanical level indicators for many decades. As I understand your require, the best you can use is our rotating paddle switch, the MaihakMBA200. The MBA200 measures in nearly all kind of bulk material, from heavy material like stones, sand and cement up to light and fine powders. Abrasive or sticky products are no problem for the MBA200. There are multiple types of the MBA200 to fit in silos, bins or hoppers, to mount on top or to reach sideways into the vessel. The MBA200 is extreme reliable and therefore it is often used to prevent a overflow during the filling of the vessel.

You will find more information to the MaihakMBA 200 in the internet:
