Solid Sense

This series of notes is intended to be pragmatic, concise, easy to understand, concentrating on concepts, rather than formula, and provide a fundamental appreciation of the underlying nature of particulate solids. This may be an ambitious objective, but at least should contain some useful ideas and guidelines for newcomers to the subject.

The contents are not intended to provide definitive design data or a free consulting service and while any suggestions, limited formula or guide figures are based on my experience in the industry, they imply no responsibility for their interpretation or unqualified application to a given situation.

It is inevitable with such a broad approach that there may be instances of lack of clarity, errors or where the proposals do not apply. Comment to improve, extend or correct are invited.

This initial set of entries provides condensed tips of various topics associated with solids handling.
