Vigan Builds Dedicated Grain and Fertilizer Terminal in Port Qasim

VIGAN Engineering S.A. has been chosen as a major supplier for the ship unloaders, the conveying and bagging system as well as for the flat storage of fertilizers.

This FAP terminal (Fauji Abkar Portia Marine Terminals Ltd) is a Joint Venture between the Fauji Foundation and the Akbar Group, with additional financing by the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).

The terminal will have a capacity of up to 4 million t of products, of which 80% will be for grains, and will have total storage capacity of about 100.000 t.

Two different technologies will be used for ship unloading:

One Mechanical unloader (twin belt technology) with a capacity of 1.000 t/h, which offers energy consumption, gentle handling of the products and operational reliability.

One Pneumatic unloader with a capacity of 600 t/h, Vigan's flagship for years, will increase overall capacity and ensure high efficiency even during clean-up.

Vigan will also supply several hundred meters of belt conveyors with supporting structure, 12 bagging lines for grains and fertilizers with capacities between 60 t/h to 100 t/h (50 or 100 kg bags) and all the handling system for the 40.000 m3 fertilizer flat storage.

Project completion is scheduled for 2010.
