New Graviblend Generation with Integrated Material Conveying
The new generation of Graviblend, the innovative feeding and blending system from Colortronic Systems now comes equipped with a fully integrated material conveying system (mechanically and in terms of the system control). This means that it is easier to use, material changes require less time, resulting in increased savings. Thanks to its reduced height, the new system also takes up less room.
Graviblend is particularly suitable for highly demanding continuous production processes, typical examples being the manufacture of textile and chemical fibres, the extrusion of foam sheet and multilayer special purpose films and the compounding of masterbatches. The system can be used for the continuous conveying, gravimetric dosing and intensive feeding of all freely flowing granular plastics eg Polypropylene (PP), Nylon (PA), Polyethylene (PE), Polystyrene (PS), Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and Polylactic Acid (PLA). Its performance is particularly suited to applications requiring the highest degree of formulation accuracy and homogeneity of blend.
Modular Design for the Utmost Flexibility
The new Graviblend generation features a fully modular design and with its integrated material loaders can convey raw materials from silos, octabins and other storage containers. For easy operation, all functions are combined on the uniform user interface of the C2 control system. Newly incorporated sight glasses in the material hoppers permit visual control of the material flow at all times. The system is rated for continuous 24 hour operation. It operates according to the tried and tested principle of differential metering (loss in weight), that is to say, each individual component is metered by weight. The synchronous metering of all materials ensures an optimum blend of the components.
Prior to delivery, every Graviblend feeding and mixing system, including the material hoppers and the C2 control, is completely assembled and tested. Thus the customer receives a tested, ready to use system that can be assembled and put into operation quickly and easily. Thanks to the modular design of the system, all attachment units can be readily fitted and removed. To sum up, the Graviblend now offers the user more functionality and flexibility in less space. Graviblend can be operated either as a single line or multi line system, with as many as eight feeding stations per line. There are already over 2000 Graviblend feeding and mixing systems in service throughout the world.
Feeding Stations offer High Degree of Functionality
The feeding module features four different modes of operation. In production mode, the module feeds the material into the collecting vessel with absolute formulation accuracy. The unique patented shut off device of the feeding system prevents any after spill of material. The dosed quantities of material slide down channels into the middle of the collection hopper where they are homogeneously mixed.
The second mode of operation permits the taking of samples, thus preventing any possible start up waste when calibrating during changeover from one product to another. The two other modes of operation serve as bypass functions, that is to say, either the extruder can be fed with material without any feeding function (the extruder is simply flooded with material) or the system can be emptied rapidly (the entire weighing vessel is emptied within seconds), eg for changing the screw or for changing over from one material to another.
