Expertise further expanded in southern Africa

Within the framework of the consistent further development of its mining-sector activities, the Cologne-based company Steinert Elektromagnetbau will enter into a partnership with IMS Engineering (Pty) Ltd, Johannesburg, South Africa. Both firms have been active in the marketing, supply and support of equipment to the minerals processing industry in southern Africa for years and are well known throughout the region. Over and above its comminution equipment, IMS has been focusing on the use of sensor technology for sorting minerals. Steinert Elektromagnetbau GmbH has been specialising in magnetic and sensor sorting for applications in the region’s recycling industry. The new partnership will pool the experience and expertise of the two companies.

IMS Engineering believes its strength lies in the market development and sale of innovative processing technology in southern Africa. The most important element here is its extensive service capacity for technologies from abroad. STEINERT GmbH will now serve as a further technology partner for IMS Engineering. A developer and manufacturer of some of the world’s leading sorting technologies, STEINERT has production locations in Germany and Australia. IMS Engineering’s expertise in providing solutions will be further expanded to the benefit of customers in southern Africa.

Plans also call for IMS to manage the future concentration of activities relating to the regional market.

This will enable IMS to offer not only inductive sensor-based sorting systems, as well as colour sorting and X-ray sorting, but also sorting systems that utilise eddy current and magnetic technologies.

Now that an initial product training session has been conducted, the partnership will be expanded and documented over the next few weeks in line with requirements and the benefit of customers’ in the region.
