Buffer hopper sizing

Posted in: , on 15. Jul. 2004 - 17:12

Fly ash being conveyed pneumatically under vacuum @ 30T/Hr.Fly ash will be separated in bag filters and accumulated in hopper below. Blow tank below this hopper will carry the ash further distance beyond plant boundary in pressure conveing mode. I require to know the space requirement (area and height ) to accomodate the buffer hopper blow tank assembly complete with maintenance platform, access etc.The vacuum air will be around 2000 acfm at 13 " Hg vacuum. Can anybody help?

Based on bulk density of material and desired blow tank duty, say 10 to 20 cycles per hour, (and also whether batch or continuous feeding is required), hopper and blow tank volumes can be worked out. This will allow space volumes to be worked out. wypych@uow.edu.au

If you don't have enough stack height to accomodate both the surge hopper (i.e., buffer hopper) and the blow tank, another option is a continuously-fed rotary valve type dense phase pneumatic conveying system. From the dust collector you can directly go to the rotary valve.
