K-Tron to Spotlight New Bulk Solids Pump Feeder BSP 150

And Introduce Other New Products at K-Show 2004 in Duesseldorf

Pitman, NJ--- (July 8, 2004)--- The K-Tron Feeder Group will introduce the BSP 150, the newest model of the Bulk Solids Pump Feeder Family, to the European market at the K-Show in Duesseldorf, Germany, October 20-27, 2004, Hall 10, Booth 10A74. The BSP 150 is the third model in the company’s new Bulk Solids Pump™ (BSP™) feeder line; models BSP 100 and BSP 125 were introduced in March at Powtech. This revolutionary new concept for feeding bulk material utilizes positive displacement action to feed free flowing materials with astounding accuracy, offering uniform discharge, consistent volume and gentle handling.

The BSP 100 utilizes one duct to achieve feeds rates of 0.07 to 7 cu3 ft/hour (2-200 dm3/hour). The BSP 125, with two ducts, achieves feed rates of 0.32 to 32 ft3 / hour 9-900 dm3/hour). The BSP-150 utilizes four ducts to reach feed rates of 1.6 to 160 ft3/hr (45 to 4500 dm3/hour). Both gravimetric and volumetric versions of all three BSP models are available. The K-Tron booth will feature both volumetric and loss-in-weight BSP feeders as well as two BSP feeders integrated into the new K4G continuous gravimetric blender, another new product for K-Tron.

The K4G is designed as a complete package for plastics compounding and other extrusion applications with one to eight feeder modules. Key new features offered with the K4G system are the incorporation of the new K-Tron Bulk Solids Pump (BSP) feeder, the option of selecting from six different feeder models to be incorporated into the blender system—vastly extending the range of materials and feed rates to be handled by one blending system, a blender stand design that allows the rearrangement of any of these six types of feeders at any feeder station, utilization of K-Tron’s next generation of weighing technology-- the SFT III, a compact blender frame with integrated support for vacuum refill systems and utilization of K-Tron newest feeder controllers, the Smart HiPo controller (KSHM) and the Smart Stepper Controller (KSSM) for BSP feeders..

In addition to introducing the BSP feeder and K4G gravimetric blender, K-Tron will also introduce a new microfeeder concept, Model MT12, that will feed accurately at rates as low as 20 grams/ hour. The compact feeder is designed for ease of disassembly, allowing fast and easy cleaning. The feeder design also allows the feeder bowl to discharge almost completely when emptying, leaving minimal amounts of residual material. The MT12 can be configured for either standard industrial or sanitary pharmaceutical applications. Models meeting European ATEX and USA Hazardous Area standards are planned.

K-Tron will also exhibit the new version of the Smart Flow Meter Model 275. The K-Tron Smart Flow Meter can be used as a feeder, meter or batcher and is frequently used for feeding high rates in resin production. The SFM 275 can handle rates from 2,000 kg/hour to 100,000 kg/hour. The new version of the SFM 275 incorporates the latest generation of K-Tron’s weighing technology, the Smart Force Transducer (SFT) III.

At the K-Show K-Tron will also show in booth 10A74, the Smart Weigh Belt feeder, a Quick Change feeder T35/S60--that allows easy change between single and twin screw configurations--engineered with a Shear Hopper that offers a compact solution for agitating cohesive materials. In addition K-Tron will exhibit a KCL-24-KQx single screw feeder running with material to demonstrate the company’s unique Screw Speed Modulation algorithm that smoothes material flow for improved accuracy.
