We have developed a gravimetric control system specifically designed to retrofit proprietary electronics from ANY of the feeder manufacturers. Our controller has been developed around the Rockwell Automation ControlLogix hardware and RSView32 software platforms, using open standard DeviceNet components.

Additionally we offer scale conversions for screw feeders, weigh belts and solids flowmeters to replace proprietary digital and LVDT loadcells with precision analog.

Gravimetric Feeder Control

Delmar,

I use feeders from several manufacturers including K-tron. I am looking to go to graviemtric control with K-tron scale bases (DMT, DMT, DFT, etc.). Can your company interface with these load cells?

K-Tron Scale Conversion

The K-Tron digital loadcell uses a unique 9-bit protocol, so we know of no commercially available method to communicate directly to the loadcell. Our method is to convert the scale to a precision analog loadcell so that replacement parts can be sourced locally. We typically specify the Hardy C2 loadcell because it will allow scale calibration without using calibration weights.

We manufacture a custom scale base (and belt weighbridge) designed to match the K-Tron mounting pattern for a no-drill conversion. By keeping all your feeder manufacturers on analog scales you can mix & match the various feeders on each extrusion line. This will greatly simplify the maintenance and stocking of service parts.

Delmar,

Thanks for the quick response to my K-tron question. I have considered using the Hardy Instruments Rate Controller, however it seems a bit expensive. It may make sense to consider the option you have outlined. Can you give me an estimate (bugetary) price on your system - probably not economical to interface on one feeder at a time, just looking for a number.
