Flip Flo Screen panel aperture selection

I have a problem in selecting aperture size for flipflo screen panel . The operating details are as below:-

a) Screen Size - 2710 x 7790 mm

b) Material handled - Coal

c)Moisture Content - 8 %

d)Seperation Size - 13 mm

e) Method of screening - Dry

f) Feed Rate - 450 TPH.

Initially it was started with 15 x 15 mm sq aperture, when undersize was going to the oversize. We selected a larger aperture size of 22 x 30 mm and 22% of oversize started going to the undersize. We reduced the aperture to 18 x 24 mm and again undersize started reporting to oversize.

Can you please suggest how the aperture size for flipflo screen is selected. Is there any empirical formulas to calculate the aperture size. I am not sure how the aperture size is selected for flipflo screens

It depends on the material shape, screen inclination, screen design( with offset?), and thickness of the poly and the shape of your holes. 18 x 24 should work, or 18 x 50 ( or similar). It is also possible your screen is not working correctly and that is the source of your problem - do you have a movie of the screen working with material?
