SGS delivers demanding gears for coal crushers

St. Ingbert, Germany, August 25, 2011 - SGS Sonder Getriebe Service GmbH has delivered demanding gears for two double roll sizers to be employed in Russia. The gears are designed for high impact loads and at the same time they must resist temperature fluctuations between - 40° and +40° Celsius. For this purpose, the gears are heated, the lubrication system is optimized and materials with subzero toughness, which fulfill the required impact work without any problems at -40°C, are employed.

"The special challenge was that we had to implement the complex demands of these gears in a relatively short period of time", says Uwe Hackenberger, CEO of SGS Sonder Getriebe Service. The construction of the gears comprises spur gears including fluid couplings with elastic, vibration-damped couplings, contact-free thermal shifting devices and curved teeth couplings on the output side designed according to the requirements.
