Dear R.S,There is good nos. of cos. in India like TRF,ELECON,Macnally Bharat ect. who supply wagon tippler for open wagons.Recently, new cos. have entered for supplying similar type of system/equipment.As per you thread if, I am not wrong you want to store coal in closed shed after receiving the same from the pit of wagon tippler. Now,to store the coal there are various systems to load/convey the coal in the silo and also various system like dome to store the coal also.I think you will be interested to reclaim the coal also from the storage shed. Now, if you will contact the suppliers they will give only that equipment which is in their manufacturing range and also not put efforts to provide you 2-3 options,so it is always better to do the feasibilty study for various options,I know this is not very commmon in India but to do the study before finalising the system/equipment but keeping in view of high cost of equipment, it is adviseable to go for the same.

Steam Coal Unloading

Posted on 26. Jan. 2010 - 07:12

We have an old Wagon Tippler for unloading Coal. But it cannot unload Steam coal. With the present scenario of coal we are required to make an infrastucture for unloading Steam coal which has boulders. We are also required to unload the coal having having boulders in a very short time to avoid demurrage. We receive coal in 58 Wagons of BOXN construction . I need advice what we need to unload steam coal having boulders in a short time.

Dear Please let us know what is the quantity of coal you want to unload per day.

I know India Railway is not giving enough time to hold the racke,as per latest you will have to return the racke with in one and half hour after entering in your yard.

I also forsee due to heavy demand there will be acute shortage of rackes.

Dear Shri R. S. Gangwar,

India may be one of the countries which has large number of installations of wagon tipplers. People have already given certain names. You can also add companies like L & T and ThyssenKrupp - India.

Regarding the issue mentioned for unloading steam coal I would like to state as below:

You have mentioned that steam coal has boulders. So, what is the size of the coal boulders, dimension as largest corner to corner.

As a rule if bulk material can be loaded and transported by railway wagon, there should not be problem for unloading it by wagon tippler, because as far as wagon tippler is concerned it is just turning the wagons for gravity drop of material. Only requirement is that the receiving hopper has to be strong enough, outlet should be large enough and underneath apron feeder should be strong enough to take the material impact.

In case of mobile crushing plants, giant trucks drop material directly onto apron feeder from similar discharge height.

The coal bulk density is quite less compared to iron ore, limestone, etc. and thereby magnitude of impact by coal lumps is less. So the issue for you may be coal receiving items rather than wagon tippler. The grid on hopper mouth should have sufficient size opening and strong construction. It will nearly reduce the impact by half with respect to total drop. Such grid will not act as safety for human beings, for which other protective arrangements such as hand rails, etc. to be incorporated.

Dear Sir,

In ref. to your query please allow us to introduce. We can give u complete solution to your need. And over all we can provide you equipments/systems at a very competitive prize which any one in India dare to. Our prize is so low that we can compete any Chinese manufacturer.

The OEM’s generally want to impose their product on end user and does not allow them to choose equipment part arrangement, or bought out items. Leading OEM’s only provide GA & Arrangement Drgs. The detail /sectional view/dimensions/manuals etc. are never produced during tender /Technical qualification . On query common correspondent like “Standard design; Proven design “are bolded to close down the topic. After the project is conceived the next threat from OEM's starts- the Billing brake up is made in such a way that most of the amount is collected even before the comp. parts are supply. The B.B.UP are never prepared on erection program. Here we defer! erection oriented B.B.UP systematic supply; We provide almost every details; spares part drawings! Erection & Commissioning Supervision; Training your maintenance stuff; Training your operators.

Dear Sir,

RDSO has introduced new norm G-33 May 2010. Now DFC wagon ( 108 plus32 =140 ton wagon) will be in operation. So only Thyssenkrupp is the competent party in this respect. TKII is suppling Twin tippler in KPO, Orissa. First time in INDIA.
