will reducing surface moisture of coal, reduce the ash content of coal?

Technical query regarding coal ash.

Has anyone any experience of reducing surface moisture of coal and whether it reduces the ash, when the water is removed or not.

I appreciate that reducing the moisture content will mean that the percentage of ash of the whole will increase in percentage terms, but i guess my question is whether soem of the ash particles are in the surface water or not
