Dear all,

Our plant has a 4-stage SP-kiln with a capacity of 2250 tpd; firing 100%petcoke.

As a result of high thermal load the refractory life is short and we try to increase that life by feeding the 10% of the fuel to the riser duct. Also this will probably ease the control of the stability of the kiln.

However, we couldn't decide on the feeding system. Should we use a burner?, If yes what should be the location of the burner, kind of burner etc?

Thank you all,

You can fire pet coke at the feed end of the kiln as is done for using shredded tires as supplementary fuel (equally for getting rid of them). It is simple mechanism. The combustion in the rising duck is psychometric combustion without a flame. No need for an elaborate burner.

So, just a simple conveying system, silos and a proper dosing mechanism will be sufficient?

What about the feeding point?

For example, just above the hot meal feeding or above the 3rd to 4th cyclone feeding.

I wonder about the combustion efficiency. THe volatile matter of petcoke is around 13%. As a result, its rate of combustion is not as fast as that of tire (60% volatile). Can we see a 100% combustion efficiency without a burner?

Thank you..
