Air Control Science®, Inc. Opens Marion, Ohio, Office

BOULDER, Colo., December 20, 2004 – Air Control Science, Inc., (ACS) a leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm specializing in dust and fume control in coal-fired power and primary metal industries, announced that it has opened a regional operation in Marion, Ohio, to help handle the growing number of projects in coal-fired power and primary metal. ACS has grown rapidly since it was formed in 1994, and today maintains offices in 18 locations. The Marion office is located at 1992 Zwayer Road, Marion, Ohio.

ACS’s rapid growth has been fueled in part by its engineering experience and knowledge in developing coal handling systems that make coal-fired utility plants safer and more worker friendly. In particular, ACS engineers have developed technology and systems that contain and control dust emissions and spillage of all types of coal, including Powder River Basin Coal, some of the most widely used coal today, but coal that is also known for its dust generating nature, volatility and difficult to contain properties.

During the last decade, ACS has redesigned coal handling conveyance systems in some of the largest power plants in the United States. The Marion office will include a team of top-level engineers, designers, and project managers – including Dean Crosby, P.E., as regional manager – from the Marion area who are experienced in primary metal and coal-fired power plant conveyance systems.

ACS has many innovative systems and proprietary technologies that make bulk materials handling cleaner, safer and more productive. These include:

• ACS Dustless Transfer®, an innovative passive dust control system;

• Smart Chute™, a technology program used to ensure smooth coal flow;

• Glider Roller Belt Support® system, proprietary technology that provides a flat, near friction-free foundation in conveyor transfer points to reduce spillage and airborne dust;

• Dust Analyst® rational analysis, a precise method for determining airflow requirements in dust control systems.

These leading technologies enhance facilities’ assets by reducing equipment wear and keep workers safe by controlling the escape of fugitive dust and spillage.
