I can not be helpful on the STANDARD PROCEDURE BUT, basically you would want to drop material on material from plus minus 18" -24" max to reduce creation of more fines.
Hopefully other members can be more helpful. ■

Target Box Design
Sirs,
I have to introduce a "Target Box" in a belt conveyor of sinter transportation. The existing vertical drop between the belt conveyors' transfer point is aprroximately 1.5m. This huge drop causes generations of finer fractions of the sinter. I am planning to introduce suitable "Target Box" to prevent the existing problem of sinter breakages into fractions. Is there any standard procedure available , which i can follow in designing thesuitable "Target Box"?. Can anyone help me in this regards? Regards.
