Position of Spring to Support a Vibrating Grizzly Feeder

Posted in: , on 23. Dec. 2014 - 12:55

Hi everyone,

Which arrangement of spring will be better:

1. Spring can be placed 4 corner of spring (front & rear LH side and front & rear RH side of side wall of feeder)

2. Rear side of feeder, front LH side & front RH side.

what are the advantages in above both arrangement.

...before asking vague questions. What do you mean by 'Rear side of feeder'?

If we get an answer then we can really pull it to pieces.

Dear Sir,

What I meant from rear side is back side of feeder where material is feeded.

You have still failed to clarify.

No matter. If you put your indeterminate rear spring, or springs, within the two front corners then you could generate unstable equilibrium when one side becomes heavier than the other. This is almost certain if you are talking about a central rear spring. In that case the lighter corner could interfere with the outlet; blocking the feed to that side and possibly jettisoning debris.

Dear Sir,

Please find attached schematic of spring arrangement.

I think now I have made it clear. please explain the advantages of both the arrangements.

I have seen both arrangements.

I suggest to check below items to select one of them:

1- feeder arrangement: if you have enough space besides or back of feeder to place springs

2- strength of feeder body in the point of spring attachment

There are in fact many configurations of spring supports for various DUTY of feeders.

5 springs across the FEED END where the material is DUMPED ON.....is and can be quite typical of a heavy duty, what we call a type 5 construction. The springs are concentrated in that area to take to LARGE SHOCK DUMP LOAD of trucks dumping with material coming down like a freight train from the top of a mining truck dump box in the UP POSITION...and then of course springs at the discharge end where MR FEEDER dumps into MR JAW crusher.

a LOT of these bigger heavier application GRIZZLY FEEDERS may in fact, also have a HORIZONTALLY mounted coil spring placed with a STOP or BUMPER PLATE, which is utilized when the feeder is ACCEPTING A LARGE DUMP SHOCK LOAD...and tries to JUMP back away from the load and this spring LIMITS the travel backwards towards the feed end area.

Clarification On Spring Support

Posted on 25. Feb. 2015 - 10:09

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for the clarification. Can you throw some light on different spring arrangement (like vertical mounting or inclined mounting of spring) to support heavy duty linear motion vibrating grizzly feeder. I have attached snapshot of two spring arrangement Type A & Type B for your reference.

Thank you.

In this regard, I have even seen "hanging vibrating feeders" (supported on suspended ropes

) on the sidewalls of hopper/ bin. Photo attached for reference.

Inclined Spring

I also have seen inclined springs (type B) for a screen used in asphalt industry(hot material),

and would like to know what is the benefit of this arrangement.
