Material Stops on Screen Deck

Posted in: , on 10. Jul. 2010 - 01:14

I have double deck screener mounted on a gold sluicing plant. The top deck is 1 in punch plate and the bottom is 1/2 in on 3ft. x 10 run. I use water in my screening process. It is a used screen deck. The previous owner bought it used and without springs. He installed new springs and I don't know how he match the springs to the counterweight; if in fact he did. My problem is that the material stops near the bottom of the top screen. In fact it almost looks like it is trying to jump up the screen. I have checked the rotation and I believe it is correct. The rpm is 1050 as list on the deck itself. I have tried changing the speed and the angle, but nothing helped. Mining season is short and now half over, I could sure use some good advise; thanks Eric

Material Stopping......

Hello and let's give this a go: I have heard of this and experienced this many times over the years.

SOME QUESTIONS:

1. Mfr name of screen deck? Tis important to ensure proper spring pick, if screen is lazy it will NOT work correctly.

2. it is OVERHEAD Drive by chance??? because on an overhead drive, that type of thing actually does happen...the material passes the tube or drive assbly and when it tries to discharge off the end ..."IT STALLS OR STOPS or gangs up" kinda like crazy glue.....it does not want to get the frig off.

3. Sometimes mfr build a differential slope with a 5 degree decline to help it along and get it to discharge

4. or confirm it is drive thru the body please.

5. THE word PERF PLATE....connotates big screening being done, gold sluicing seems to connotate much smaller screening. DECK OPGS please.

6. when u confirm deck opgs ...i shall confirm proper setup in speed stroke slope

7. what is the actual degree of slope? should be 20 deg decline by rules. if too flat, then the material STOPS or slows down mega. NOT enough foot travel per minute. FPM should be around 60 FPM by timing a rock from feed end to discharge end..... with a watch

8. on the perf plate, how thick, straight line holes or staggered? torch cut or ?

9. Are big rocks sticking in the perf plate holes and adding static wgt?

10. 1050 RPM is listed but how fast is it actually running??? REAL IMPORTANT. If you do not have a TAC, measure OD of both sheaves and let us know. the pulleys may be right for 1050 rpm but , the vbelts may be wrong PROFILE and it could be running slower or the belts could be stretched causing slower RPM .

11. What actual circle size is the screen running? for 1" over 1/2" the setup wants to be: 3/8" circle size/ 860rpm range. if you are running 1050 rpm which kinda sounds like a TYLER range...the stroke should be 1/4" circle corresponding to do the job.

Hoping this helps....what is the price per ounce these days?????
