nobody has used it??

george, you might know something about this system or maybe another similar.

Skf Copperhead Monitoring System

Posted on 18. Sep. 2004 - 04:38

Christian: How are you enjoying university life in Chile?

This sytem of vibrating screen bearing monitoring is one I am also reviewing all articles on presently.

I know most aggregate producers in Canada or quite a few anyways and quite a few in the USA. I have not heard of anyone actually incorporating this system yet.

I am in the process of obtaining users in the field for followup in person for their comments. Theoretically this sound great but, I like history of satisfied users to lean on.

This sensor is basically a very practical idea: It will pickup, detect and sound an alarm if it dedects extra vibration of loose components, bottoming out of the screen box, overloading and high bearing housing temperatures.

This serves a huge benefical purpose: SAVING DOWNTIME, SAVING MONEY, by allowing the user to shutdown the screen in a preventative predictable manner by user choice. Vs allowing unit to go to CATASTROPHIC shutdown and incurring the cost of new bearings AND new bearing housings AND new shaft possibly AND new cross shaft tube assembly WHICH leads to mega downtime and mega repair costs.

See link above for full detailed reports from SKF SITE.

................................

Other types of similar systems...I have not heard of any like this.

Depending of capital cost of this monitor - I would assume the cost would be easily justified by savings and uptime tonnages vs downtime losses.

Wishing you "GOOD VIBRATIONS".............. George

thank you, george.

here in a mine in chile, i knew that a copperhead system was installed, i'm going to try to get some information about how it really works, because in the paper it sounds greate, but i don't know, it sounds to me like a magic system.

also there is important to say that this copperhead system in installed in joint form with a replace in the bearings, a special explorer SKF bearing that is speccialy designed to have a longer life in the vibrating screens conditions.

thak you for your interest, and good vibrations to you to, george.
