Pipe conv. return side

Posted in: , on 3. Feb. 2006 - 08:59

dear all,

I am new to this pipe conveyor design. please clarify the following.

1) What is the advantage of keeping return side also in a pipe form though it is empty return belt?

2) Is it manatory to keep return side belt in a pipe form for a pipe conveyor as it is offering more friction?

3) Instead of pipe form in return side belt, shall I take flat or inverted "V" shape or semi circular form to reduce friction?

4) What will be the power difference in point no.3

regards.

Dear Sir

It is not mandatory to keep pipe shape on return side but the benefits of doing so are that you are able to negoiate horizontal curves, you can keep the same narrow structure and you eliminate return side residue spillage along the conveyor length.

Regarding power there is very little difference.

You nearly got it all in 1 sentence. Quite brilliant.

Dear Mr. Rao,

We normally do pipe shaped in the return side due to following.

1. For better tracking.

2.To use same panel board.

3.To aviod wider gallery causing more structural cost.

In the yard convey we kept return as trought belt instead of pipe shape.

For power difference, we have to check with application.
