Low Level Sensor for Bunkers

Posted in: , on 1. Dec. 2011 - 16:17

i'd like to know about simple and easy mechanisms for detecting the low levels of a bunker. the sensor should detect a safety level in the bunker so that when material starts falling into it there should be some residual material to avoid damage to the bunker walls due to fall of heavy material on the bottom of the bunker..

What material, how big, what is the bunker made from etc?

Maybe microwave?

Silomax _ Max./Min. Level Switch

I would like to recommend you Silomax, it is very reliable max/min level sensor, easy installation, stainless steel material and It can be used for any bulk material and for any kind of bunkers, silos, bins (either concrete, steel etc.), it is delivered with flange you can find more here http://www.termoreg.cz/en/silomax.html If you need more information please contact us.

Important will be what kind of material you have in Silo and what kind of silo you have ( high, diameter).

We recommend you a capacitive sensor, which will be detect the material over the cone. Its a simple princip and maintance free. The capacitive sensor can be adjust in safety working, that means if happen some to sensor you get signal that need new material. You get the signal for empty until the cone is filled. Depend how long you need the signal before you can choose the high from the mounting. So that it will be secure that you alltime have fully cone. If you have bigger stones (over 50 mm ) in the silo we recommend you a ultrasonic sensor. For this you no have any cable in the silo which can damage. If you tell us the material silo high and conus high and diameter we can send you a quote for the best solution.

Low Level Sensor

There are a number of sensors available that will give low level indication

You can use radar, microwave, ultrasonic, capacitance, tuning forks

It is about how much money you want to pay for a sensor compared to the damage to the walls of the vessel

The problem is that if the walls of the vessel are being damaged then the same risk will apply to the sensor

So you may have to consider a baffle plate to protect the sensor and/or a flush mount arrangement.

Another option could be looking at a spout arrangement which is used to fill ships.

This could be raised and lowered as it tracks the bulk level in the vessel

Continual Levels Measuring

As the second option what we can recommend you is to use Siloter C sensor http://www.termoreg.cz/en/siloter.html which is able to indicated a level any time according to the sequence set by operator.

Very reliable and you don't need any max. min. sensor in your silo, because the Siloter also indicates empty silos or full silo. Easy, reliable and it can work for any kind of bulk material.

SILOTER C:

Level meter SlLOTER serves for connected level measurement, for material amount metering in silos and tanks. The measurement medium can be both liquid and loose materials. SILOTER can work in a very aggressive and dusty environment too, has the wide use from food industry to heavy chemistry. The measured medium can be both liquid and loose materials - e.g. cement, calcite, fly-ash, grain etc. The basic variants are SILOTER-C with metering range up to 50m and pressure up to 3 bars for pressure chambers and SILOTER-MB portable battery-operated device with metering up to do 50m. The part of this portable version is display for measured values representation too.

Measuring principle:

A sensing weight, hanged on a stainless rope, is lowered into the silo. When the sensing weight reaches the surface, direction is reversed and sensing weight is returned back to the initial position. Measured distance is stored in memory and can be sent to the control system by the RS-485 digital interface (in ASCII protocol). Next possibility is to send it as pulses for a counter. Integration for type SILOTER pulse is here.

Inplementation:

The Siloter-C meter is placed in stainless steel cylindrical case. The covers are sealed by clamp joints for perfect stuffing and simple one screw mounting and dismantling. The case is internally divided into two parts. One part is for a drum with the sensing rope and the second part is for electric drive, control electronic board and connecting terminals. The Siloter is mounted on the silo roof by the DN100 PN6 flange. The sensing probe can be made in different forms according to application (high temperature, density, hygienic demand on measured medium etc.)

Siloter has the CERTIFICATE FROM PHYSICAL-TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTION IN OSTRAVA RADVANICE FOR USING IN POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE (EC directive 94/9/EC).

material can vary from silo to silo.. one may have lump ore.. others may have limestone dolo or even fines..

Dear Sir,

You will find a perfect solution for your demand if you visit our web site

www.yunel.com and contact us from sales@yunel.com

Our level indicators will inform you at the lowest level adjusted in your silo,

and give contact to stop the feeding or any alarm.
