Solids Effect on EMF Measurement

Posted in: , on 28. Jul. 2009 - 18:43

Hello everyone,

I am currently a student researching in slurry flow area. In our flow loop we are using an electromagnetic flow meter (EMF) to measure the velocity of solids (up to 25% volumetric concentration).

I need to know if the EMF is effected by solids concentation.

My results from discharge sampling so far show that it isn't effected by hold up. However this is in direct contrast to theory in literature which relates the signal from EMF to the dispersed phase (Bernier and Brennen 1983) and in addition my supervisor is convinced it should be, so I am a little confused.

Does anybody have any experience on this or can recommend me some publication I can review?
