What is the most productive way to crush and screen calcite to -1000 mic.

Dear colleagues,

We are planning to modify our crushing and screening facility in Turkey.

The current machines in our facility is SBM V8 model VSI crusher / a inclined vibrating screen which will be reassablied and evaluated at another facility of our factory.

VSI Crusher feed rate = 80 ton/hr (with recycle material of screen oversize)

Screen Area = 2.1m screen 2 units. (23 degree inclination.)

Crusher feed material size : 7 - 25 mm calcite (limestone)

Mohs Hardness: 4

Screem cutsize = 1 mm (1000 mic.)

Bulk density of the material = 1.6 gr/cm3

Undersize material % in screen feed = %20

Process is working closed circuit.

P.s. : High persantage of -100 mic. in -1000 mic. is not preferred.

I am not sure if these equipments are chosen right (they have been bought before i attended to the company.)

Is there any other more productive process equipments suggestable.

Some of my colleagues say that a hammer crusher will give more undersize material with lower -100 mic. persantage to screenfeed with the same crusher feed amount.

Some say i should use a horizontal impact crusher.

Some say i should use a tumbler screener reather then a vibrating screener, for more efficient screening.

I am not sure which must be preferred, the company technical data sheets for the crushers and the screens are very similar.

Maintenence, energy and wear costs are also other important specs. which must be considered in this desicion.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards.

Dear Mr. Caglar

Some information is missing in your post or if you would like you could send it to my email.

1] Particle size distribution after crusher (sieve test results)

2] Particle size distribution after 1 mm screen

3] % of 100 microns fines in product (- 1000 micron)

also it would be useful to have % moisture (if there is)

and final application of this calcite,

since some crushers provide cubic form product, for some applications it is important, is it important in your case?

As a principle our air flow separators can de dust and screen your crushed calcite to be at range +100 micron -1000 micron

Please see our product description:

Dear Akkerman,

The size distributions you asked is attached.

Moisture is below %3.

There are no final applications, it is used as a rwa material for construction chemicals production.

The spherical shape is better then cubical for us. But it is also a parameter of rocks physicomechanical property.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regadrs.

Dear Mr. ÇALAR,

After taking a look at the psd, we can state the following:

We can separate the fines in the product at approx. 160-200 micron cut point (at 3% moisture)

Or we could separate crusher product to three fractions: +1 mm; -1mm +0.16; -0.16mm

The rest is not for the net, please provide an email.
