New MHEA website to promote materials handling industry

A brand new, interactive website at http://www.mhea.co.uk is the cornerstone of a refreshed offering by the Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) to promote UK and overseas companies supplying and using powder and bulk handling equipment.

Having recently marked its 75th anniversary and welcomed Mike Redmond of Bosch Rexroth as president, the MHEA is embarking on a new chapter in its history. The vibrant new website, now designed to display perfectly on tablets, smartphones and PCs, is the public face of the association’s continuing focus on raising the profile of its membership and the industry at large.

Commenting on the website’s launch, MHEA president Mike Redmond said: “Our new website is a tremendous showcase for MHEA members as well as a valuable tool for helping to boost awareness of our industry with key bodies, including government. We’re committed to helping our sector meet the challenges and opportunities ahead, and the resources available on this outstanding new website will contribute to a successful future for all those with an interest in materials handling.”

A key feature of the new MHEA website is a comprehensive product directory, enabling industry professionals to search bulk handling products and systems offered by MHEA members. Links to members’ individual websites will enable those searching to find the precise solution that best matches their requirements.

Website visitors who have a technical query can now also submit a personal enquiry. This is opened up to the extensive knowledge and expertise of the MHEA membership, enabling the sharing of innovation and best practice.

Visitors to the website will have access to company profiles, product and sector news, and regularly updated blogs on issues relating to the industry. Those wanting to be kept up to date will be able to sign up to receive the MHEA’s email newsletter. An online shop offers the opportunity to buy a selection of seminal publications, such as Recommended Practice for Trough Belt Conveying, safely and securely.

The Materials Handling Engineers’ Association (MHEA) was formed in 1938 by inaugural chairman Frank Lonsdale, director of Fraser Chalmers Engineering – which later became the General Electric Company.

Since its foundation the MHEA has supported the technical and commercial interests of UK and overseas companies supplying and using powder and bulk handling equipment.

Today the MHEA offers a number of vital benefits to its members, including industry-level promotion, networking opportunities, representation at events and conferences, knowledge sharing and best practice, education and professional development, and access to vast technical expertise.

The modern MHEA exists to help generate new business opportunities for its membership, as well as to enhance and promote the public image and raise the profile of the industry within government and other key bodies.

Currently the MHEA represents members’ interests in industry sectors including animal food, coal, cement, chemicals, ferrous and nonferrous metal production, food and drink including confectionery, grain and derivatives, minerals and coal, mining, offshore oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, plastics and rubbers, ports, quarrying, solid biofuels, water and waste treatment.
