175 Years Technische Textilien Lörrach

Technische Textilien Lörrach GmbH & Co. KG (TTL) looks back at 175 long and eventful years of company history that began long ago in the 19th century when mainly Swiss businessmen and financers transformed the South of the German region Baden into the strongest business location of the textile industry in Germany. Friedrich vom Hove founded the company in 1838 and started to produce woollen cloth and linen. Under the name “Tuchfabrik” (i.e. cloth factory) and with up to 400 employees Friedrich vom Hove’s company has gone down in the history of the city Lörrach and the Wiesental valley. The Tuchfabrik’s woollen felts have been used as machine coverings in the paper, textile, leather, bakery and electrical industry. Another special product were high quality woollen felts for the piano construction.

In modern times the Tuchfabrik specialized more and more in technical textiles and consequently changed its company name in 1986 to TECHNISCHE TEXTILIEN LÖRRACH GMBH. Already in 1962 the company started to develop, manufacture and sell needled felts made of synthetic fibres. In the year 1993 the company focused on needled products only and sold the production and sale of woollen felts and linen products to an English company.

TTL manufactures today needlefelts made of high quality synthetic fibres for the following three product segments:
