Kaolin Processing

Posted in: , on 17. Aug. 2009 - 17:35

Our company has recently commenced the processing of kaolin into pellets. The process involves the blunging of the raw kaolin in mixers, passing the resultant slurry through hydrocyclones and vibrating machines.

We seem to have a problem with the settling rate of the kaolin suspension. The kaolin in the slurry settles so fast it is beginning to clog our pipes, pumps etc.

Anybody with a solution to this problem?

Low Velocity

Hi,

The turbulent velocity in your pumps and piping is too low when compared with the settling velocity. Increased flow rate will help scour the sediments.
