Slewing gearbox for port crane

Posted in: , on 20. Oct. 2005 - 11:23

I would like to know gearbox selection regarding FEM, section 1, 3rd issue 1987.

I quoted a slewing gearbox to the port side crane manufacturer.

However, the gearbox size is too big against other manufacturer selected one.

In the catalogue of our competitor, gearbox rating is approximate from 1.7 to 2.0 times bigger than our gearbox rating.

The reason may be different selection method.

Their gearbox is designed based on FEM, section 1, 3rd edition.

Please advice the reason that gearbox transmitted torque is increased by FEM.

Dear Sir.

You must consider the FEM number when you ask for quotation.

The FEM Standad clasify the machines in some groups if the machine will be used with hook the FEM number shall be M5toM6 if the crane will be used by grab the FEM number will be M6 to M7

All depends the kind of equipment, utilization etc.

Send more details to help you in better manner.
