dear users

as we had in past huge problems to clean vessels/ cargo holds from hardened cement residues would like to have some advice on how to prepare holds to minimize and simplify cleaning after discharge.

Hi.

I think one way to minimize the effort for cleaning the holds after cement is to be more scrupulous when you charter the ship. The surface of ship’s holds should be flat and more or less fresh painted, i.e. without scales of rust with minimal corrosion.

Also it can be useful to use double skin-ship, where frames hidden behind the additional flat skin making cleaning process more easy.

Best regards,

Vladimir.

You can try our pneumatic ship unloader.

The special structure with our suction nozzel helps to loosen and fluidize the bulk cement in hold and thus to enhance the efficiency of hold bottom cleaning.

Your contract with the shipping agent should state that the cargo holds are to dry during loading and that no loading and unloading will happen during rain. Moisture sensitive cargo.
