Continuously Confusing
Apart from the mention of bearing centres there is no other mention of shaft details.
If a shaft is indeed required then it might help the eager bidders to know how the said shaft is supposed to turn.
Members are further advised that if GURTEC, whoever, are reading this post they will not take kindly to copyright infringement whatever the merits,or otherwise, of their equipment.
Replacing pulleys should never be necessary but very often is necessary. Belts yes, lagging yes, bearings yes but pulleys, per say, no. As usual the original supplier is discarded but his drawing is still being quoted. This is not a good way to get things right. There is no way to get it right by the way. All competitors will feel obliged to "improve" the original supply and this often leads to more error. Once upon a time I was investigating why drums were walking on the shafts. These particular drums, 147 ot them, were 3rd generation. First supply cracked at the diaphragms; 2nd supply slipped in the wet and this last attempt was due to shaft finish. Each generation was produced by highly reputed manufacturers. The critical third generation had been produced by our own works for a reputed specialist sub contractor without my knowledge. Our works had originally advised me that they could not make the drums for a competitive price and then gone ahead and manufactured them, wrongly, for a specialist pulley supplier. I gave up and recommend you do too. Why? If somebody accepts a pulley and then finds out it falls short then the original specification; design; manufacture; inspection; construction also fell short. Pulley design, nowadays, involves a bit of ANSYS etc. but it is still a far cry from rocket science. If your pulleys were designed from Roark's stuff there will only be more confusion when you have to review designs presented using FEA.
Live with the original supplier and keep stumm. If he has gone tits up then you can throw the job open.
Happy Halloween! ■

Re: Conveyor Pulley Inquiry
Gurtec was an idler company in Schoppenstedt, Germany. It was purchased and eventually integrated into Sandvik several years ago.

Gurtec
Andrew,
Thanks for the history.
Since Sandvik are claimed to be divesting then I suppose the copyright will disappear alongside and repalcement drums are on the open market.
Cheers, ■
